Tansy has been living in a small house β€” little more than a cabin, really, owned by someone in the city who doesn't use it anymore. She's renting it, and it's just perfect. Her garden is well underway, too, even though she's only lived here about a week.

Ever since the dragon.

She's decided that if Darrow is going to surprise her with things like that from home, then she's going to stay as far from the city proper as she can, to make sure the rest of Darrow is safe.

The downside is, she's found herself lonely. She can visit Daine much more easily, which is wonderful, of course. She loves having a friend here. But she's been so focused on her chores β€” and wouldn't May-ma be happy, at last β€” that she rarely leaves the property anymore.

But the day is warm, and she needs a break. So after getting herself a glass of blessedly cold water, she looks for her phone and taps out a message to Daine.

Are ye busye? she sends.

Thinking back, Tansy can pinpoint exactly what she'd done wrong to cause this. Of course, at the time, she hadn't really thought anything of it. She'd had no reason to. She's never experienced wishes coming true before. Sage had veritably turned her wish into a spell, and it still hadn't come true.

So, wishing she'd been able to defeat the dragon when she'd had the opportunity to had been habit. She'd woken up from a terrible dream, imagining what Da had gone through before he'd died at the wyrm's maw, and in a frustrated, sweaty moment, she'd made her wish.

She'd had no reason to think anything would come of it.

It isn't until she smells it that she realizes her mistake. This blasted, wonderful, terrible city has brought her the beast. It is giving her the opportunity she'd asked for.

She's crouched over a cluster of wild lavender when she hears the wings. Followed on its tail is the smell.

"Vermifax major," she whispers. Her heart goes cold, and she rushes to the nearest tree, hiding beneath it.

She needs to warn the city. She needs to warn her friends. With a start, she realizes she can. Her phone is in herβ€”

Her satchel. Which she'd left next to the lavender. She curses her recklessness, and she curses the dragon.

Then she starts to crawl to her satchel, anyway. She needs to warn people: Daine, and Luke, and Eowyn, and anyone else she can think of. They need to know the danger they're in.

She swallows a gasp and hunches down when she hears him roar and draw closer. Her fingers tap rapidly on her screen, and she looks up after she's hit send.

"Come to me, you great, ugly wyrm," she says. Then she opens her mouth, sucks in a deep breath, and releases as loud a scream as she can manage. If he stays out of the city proper, then there's a chance Darrow will stay safe.

[ find Tansy in the countryside, relatively away from most houses; hear her scream, get her text, or just see the bus-sized (not including neck and tail) red dragon flying just near the trees. She's definitely gonna need help slaying it! ]

post-Valentine's

Tansy feels a right fool for her actions and words at the party. She can remember it all, which honestly seems to make it a bit worse. Every time she thinks of it, she feels her face heat. Every time she thinks of Daine, she feels it again.

There's nothing for it, she knows. She needs to speak about it, right away. The walk to Daine's is familiar now, and she makes it with purpose.

When she reaches the pleasant farmhouse, Tansy feels emboldened. Throwing her hair behind her shoulders, she knocks firmly.
